Throughout his life, John Travolta has experienced a great deal. Travolta is still going strong because of his character and dedication as a husband and parent, in addition to his well-known portrayals, such as that of greaser Danny Zuko.
His wife of 28 years, Kelly Preston, passed away in July 2020 following a two-year battle with breast cancer. Her age was fifty-seven. Because of their two kids, son Benjamin and daughter Ella, Travolta has been doing his hardest to be optimistic despite this catastrophe.
Before losing his beloved wife, the Travolta family suffered another tragedy when he and Kelly lost their 16-year-old son Jett in January 2009 after suffering a seizure.
While on holiday in the Bahamas, Jett suffered a seizure and passed away. His parents were heartbroken. Back then, Travolta spoke about the loss to US Weekly and said: “It’s the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life. The truth is, I didn’t know if I was going to make it.”
When Kelly died, a representative of the family shared the devastating news with People, writing: “Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends.”
She was an intelligent, lovely, and affectionate person who infused life into everything she came into contact with. Her family requests your consideration of their current need for privacy.
Preston decided not to disclose that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. On the British talk program “Loose Women,” Sally Phillips, who costarred with her in her most recent movie, Off the Rails, revealed that they were not aware of it while it was being filmed. Sally went on to explain that movie stars frequently conceal health conditions out of fear for their future employment prospects and movie insurance.
That’s what people do,” she said, “because they’re worried about getting insurance for the movie and then going back to work.”” Sally also highlighted similar instances, such as Chadwick Boseman and Helen McCrory, who also opted not to publicly disclose their health struggles.
Travolta also spoke of his loss and wrote on Instagram: “My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered.” He took the time to thank everyone who supported him during the tough times for the family.
For his first birthday without Kelly by his side, his children helped him with the grief he still has in his heart. Ella, who is following into her parents’ footsteps and is making a career in film, has posted a touching tribute for Travolta whom she described as “the most incredible man I have ever known.”
“You are my best friend in addition to being the greatest father I have ever known. We appreciate everything you do for us every day, including parenting us, supporting us, and loving us. We are as fortunate as the rest of the world to have you. You have my affection, Daddy. Yesterday, I had a great time with you on your birthday,” Ella wrote.
Travolta honored his beloved late wife on Instagram by posting a picture of her with the message, “Happy Birthday Kelly,” on what would have been her 59th birthday. We sincerely love and miss you.
Ella also posted a heartfelt note, expressing how much she misses her mother. “Happy Birthday Mama, I love and miss you so much,” she wrote.
After the loss he suffered, some of Travolta’s friends allegedly tried to help him get him back on the dating scene, but it looks like the actor is still grieving and isn’t quite ready to move on.
“John’s had no shortage of friends wanting to set him up and there are a lot of women who would love to go out with him,” an insider told OK! Magazine.
“John is flattered, but he just isn’t interested.
Nobody wants to push him because they know he’s conflicted about being the greatest father he can be, remaining unmarried, and letting love into his life once more. Everyone is giving John the space he needs until he can work things out.
Travolta discussed the talk he had with his son Benjamin following the death of his mother during an interview on Kevin Heart’s talk show, Heart to Heart.
“Once, [Ben] told me, ‘I’m afraid you’re going to, because mom passed away,’” Travolta recounted. “Well, it’s a very different thing,” I answered. And I discussed the disparities between her short life and mine.
“I said, ‘But you know, Ben, you always love the truth and I’m going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they’re gonna go or when they’re going to stay,’” he continued.
“I said, ‘Your brother [Jett] left at 16. Too young. Your mother left at 57. That was too young. But who’s to say?’ I said, ‘I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can. So let’s look at it that it’s a part of life. You don’t know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can.’”
While keeping a low profile, John Travolta talked about how he’s dealing with grief in an interview with Esquire Mexico.
“I’ve discovered that grieving and sorrow are very individualized experiences. Only your own path will heal you; it’s personal,” Travolta told the magazine. Each person experiences it differently. Allowing someone to experience their grief without interfering with your own is the finest thing you can do to support them. That’s what I’ve discovered.
Travolta is incredibly close to his two children and is quite proud of them.
He has never passed up the opportunity to publicly express his affection for his kids and to let them know how much they mean to him. The lovely thing is that Benjamin and Ella follow suit.
Actress Ella, who is descended from her well-known parents, says her father is the most significant individual in her life and her role model.
The Poison Rose (2019) and Old Dogs (2009) are two of Ella’s well-known films. “I’ve loved performing, singing, dancing, and hosting shows for my family and friends at home since I was very young,” she told People.
The Saturday Night Fever star expressed his thoughts on fatherhood on parent’s Day, stating, “Being a father is a privilege.” My babies, you are loved. “Happy Father’s Day to all of you,” accompanied with pictures of his kids.
